The Struggle of Bintang DA8 Against Diabetes Since Childhood, Experienced Shortness of Breath While Performing

Bintang's struggle on the Dangdut Academy 8 stage is not just about facing competition with other contestants. The contestant from the Bangka Belitung Islands also has to undergo the struggle of maintaining his health condition as he has been suffering from diabetes mellitus since he was in elementary school.

This was revealed when Bintang performed in the Top 31 Group 3 round aired by Indosiar on Wednesday (12/8/2026). After Bintang performed the song "Kecanduan Kamu", his condition became a concern as he appeared less fit and experienced shortness of breath on stage.

This condition then prompted Gilang Dirga and Ramzy to ask Bintang's father, who was present at the location, about Bintang's health. Gilang initially mentioned the unpredictable weather lately and its possible impact on Bintang's health.

The father then revealed that his daughter is indeed struggling to compete while being unwell. "Bintang is currently fighting through her illness," said Bintang's father when asked about his daughter's condition.

Gilang then requested further explanation regarding Bintang's illness. The father mentioned that Bintang has diabetes mellitus and has been suffering from it since she was in the 6th grade of elementary school. "She has diabetes," he revealed. "Since the 6th grade," the father continued.

Bintang's condition of experiencing shortness of breath also drew the attention of the judges. Ramzy asked whether Bintang's blood sugar levels were rising or falling, while Dewi Perssik reminded that this condition means Bintang should not overexert himself. Despite having to struggle to maintain his physical condition, Bintang continues to strive to deliver his best performance on stage.

Although he experienced a lack of fitness and shortness of breath, Bintang was still declared to have advanced to the next round of Dangdut Academy 8.
