Toton Caribo's Message to Regional Musicians: Don't Use Viewers as a Measure of Your Work

The success achieved by Toton Caribo at the SCTV Music Awards 2026 does not make him forget his roots as a regional musician. Instead, he uses that moment to motivate young musicians to stay focused on creating without being fixated on audience numbers or views.

According to Toton, Eastern Indonesian musicians have a strong mentality because they are used to creating works without making instant popularity their main goal.

"I believe that musicians from the East never have a drop in their mentality. We always create without looking at viewers as a reference. What matters is producing the best works," said Toton Caribo when met at Studio 6 Emtek City, West Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/6/2026).

"Maybe today their works are not widely heard, but someday they will have the opportunity to be recognized by more people," he added.

On the same occasion, Toton also expressed his appreciation to the organizers of the SCTV Music Awards 2024 for introducing a special category for regional language musicians. According to him, this step is a real support for the development of talent from various regions in Indonesia.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the SCTV Music Awards 2024 for introducing a new category to support the growth of regional musicians. We have been given an extraordinary platform through this event," he stated.

When asked about his favorite musicians, Toton mentioned several names that he considers to have great quality and potential in the music industry.

In addition to those three names, Toton also gave special appreciation to Juan Reza. According to him, Juan is a hardworking figure who has proven his quality through various works and collaborations that have been well received by the public.

"I admire and am proud of Juan Reza. He is truly a fighter. Through his works and collaborations, he has been able to prove his quality, and thank God the results are very good," said Toton.
