TOTTO CHAN: THE LITTLE GIRL AT THE WINDOW is an autobiography book by Tetsuko Kuronayagi that tells the story of her childhood when she attended Tomo Gakuen during World War II. This book was published in 1981 and became a bestseller in Japan.

Anime directed by Shinnosuke Yakuwa tells the story of a child named Tetsuko, or affectionately called Totto chan.

The story begins when Totto chan's mother learns that her daughter has been expelled from public school. Her mother realizes that Totto chan needs a school that provides more freedom of expression. Therefore, she takes Totto chan to meet the new headmaster, Mr. Kobayashi, at her new school called Tomoe Gakuen.

In this school, the children live a happy life, unaware of the things happening in the world. World War II has started, but there are no signs of it happening yet.

The film TOTTO CHAN: THE GIRL AT THE WINDOW was released in Japan on December 8, 2023, and immediately ranked 6th in its first week of screening. Feat Pictures, the distributor of this film, announced that TOTTO CHAN: THE LITTLE GIRL AT THE WINDOW will officially be screened in Indonesian cinemas on May 1, 2024.
