Trusted to Repeat the Success of the Old Version Film, 'DEALOVA (2024) Ready to Air in Cinemas on February 22nd

Kapanlagi.com - Director Ray Nayoan is trusted to work on the film 'Dealova' which will soon be presented with a new touch by carrying the theme of basketball. This film is a reboot of the previous success of the film 'Dealova' in 2005.

With a screenplay written by Dyan Nuranindya and Aaron Hart, 'Dealova (2024)' takes a more sporty approach to the romance of Dealova. This film is expected to bring the audience nostalgia after 20 years of the first 'Dealova' film.

”Hopefully this can cure the longing after 20 years since the first airing of Dealova, and also as a new color in the film world with a special sports atmosphere, especially basketball,” said Rama Anugrah, the producer, in a press conference session in the Senayan area, South Jakarta, on Monday (12/2).

1. Sports as the Main Theme

On the same occasion, director Ray Nayoan explained that for him, working on a film that was once phenomenal in its time is a golden opportunity. Moreover, 'Dealova (2024)' is being developed with a completely new nuance.

"When given the opportunity to develop together with the Flix and Capo Dei Capi team, we immediately pitched the idea of making a teenage film that seeks self-identity through sports. The sports genre should have its own place in Indonesia. Any sports fandom here always seems to be huge," said Ray Nayoan.

"Perhaps it is too big, so we tend to always put ourselves as fans. That's why when the women's basketball national team is getting more brilliant, it is ironic that there are still many who doubt the abilities of our female athletes," he continued.

2. Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle

Heru Winanto, as the executive producer, added that for the story, this new Dealova film is still related to his previous film. However, there is still a special message from 'Dealova (2024)' for young people.

"I think the story of Dealova is something that can still relate to the lives of today's teenagers. With a more sporty nuance, we want to promote a healthy lifestyle among teenagers," said Heru Widanto.

3. Synopsis

The film Dealova (2024) tells the story of Libby (Givina) who is faced with a dilemma of choice between becoming a student basketball athlete representing her school, or becoming her mother's dream "princess." As the school basketball competition final approaches, Libby is forced to ask for Tama's (Harris Vriza) help to train her free throw accuracy, even though Tama is a former basketball athlete at a school known for being rude and causing trouble.

Dealova 2024 will be released simultaneously on February 22, 2024 in local cinemas.
