Venna Melinda expressed her concern. "Mr. Verrell seems a bit thin, yes, I saw him looking a bit lean yesterday. I said, 'you must not get sick,' or eat less. Don't forget to eat, because when working like that, you have to think," said Venna when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Friday (12/9/2025).
She also advised Verrell to maintain his diet amidst his busy schedule as a representative. "So you (Verrell) have to be okay with exercising, but you also can't be late for meals, because that's dangerous. He did seem a bit thin yesterday," she said.
Venna suspects that Verrell's weight loss is due to her son still adapting to his new, very dynamic environment. According to her, it is not easy for a young person like Verrell to dive straight into the high-pressure world of politics.
"Maybe he's a bit shocked, yes, because politics has an extraordinary dynamic. Meanwhile, he was only 28 years old when he became a member of the DPR, that's very young. I was 37 at that time and still often surprised," said Venna.
Nonetheless, Venna believes Verrell can overcome those challenges. She emphasizes the importance of mental strength and faith as a fortress in facing the harshness of the political world.
"But that's politics, people have to be mentally strong, but as long as you ask Allah for protection, everything is actually fine, because in any profession there are always risks," she said.
As someone who has entered politics earlier, Venna does not forget to equip her son with important advice. She advises Verrell to always maintain integrity and focus on the mandate given by the people.
"I always give Verrell advice, what is it, advice yes. If you are in politics, the most important thing is our intention to be sincere, genuine towards the community. It means that once you dive into the world of politics, don't mix it with other professions. So focus on the people, because after all, we are paid by the people," concluded Venna Melinda.
