Westlife Gala Evening in Surabaya, Karaoke Together - Fans Teased by Nicky

Kapanlagi.com - Westlife returned to Indonesia, with Surabaya being the first city visited this year by Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, and Kian Egan. The Westlife Gala Evening in Surabaya was lively and memorable for the three Irish singers and their fans. Especially since the concert at Graha Unesa was accompanied by an orchestra.

Westlife opened their performance with the song World Of Our Own. As soon as they appeared from backstage, the cheers of fans erupted joyfully at seeing this boyband that debuted in 1999.

1. Westlife Invites to Sing

In several songs, Shane and the others intentionally directed their microphones towards the audience and asked everyone to sing along. For example, during the song My Love, there was a special session dedicated to the fans.

Some iconic lyrics were also handed over to the fans. For instance, for the song Fool Again, the part 'I guess it's over' was given to the audience. They also asked fans to sing along to the song You Raise Me Up, which Kian said they dedicated to their loved ones.

2. Fans Shout I Love You

When it was time for the chatting session, suddenly a man's voice shouted 'I love you, Shane'. Shane replied, 'I love you too, man.' Shane mentioned that at almost every Westlife concert in various countries, there is always a fanboy who shouts I love you to him. Shane even suspects whether this fanboy attends Westlife concerts in every country.

Meanwhile, Nicky read a banner from the audience that said 'Kian, you are my first crush.' Nicky then asked who else had Kian as their first crush, along with his own first crush, and of course Shane.

3. Mention Indonesia as the Second Country

Shane mentioned that Indonesia feels like a second home to them. Every time they come here, they are always welcomed warmly.

In addition, Westlife also admires the interior of Graha Unesa, which impresses them. Although several times Nicky and the others mentioned it was hot because the weather is indeed like that.

4. Mention Mark Feehily

Mark Feehily could not join this tour concert due to illness. But the other Westlife members mentioned him.

"This is Mark's favorite song. He always loves to sing this song," Shane said before Westlife performed Flying Without Wings.

Westlife then invited one of their backing vocalists to sing Flying Without Wings, making the atmosphere even more exciting.

5. Nicky Plays a Prank on the Audience

There was a session where Nicky invited the fans to interact. First, Nicky knew for sure that the fans wanted to hear Westlife perform the songs I Lay My Love on You and Seasons in The Sun.

Nicky then sang a little part of the refrain of both songs, and the audience continued the lyrics enthusiastically. "Beautiful," said Nicky, praising the fans after they finished singing.

Not long after, Nicky said he wanted to record the moment with the audience in Surabaya and asked them to turn on their flashlights. Nicky then asked those on the floor to raise their phones, and those in the stands to put their phones down. Then Nicky asked the audience below and above to do this alternately.

At first, it was slow, but gradually it got faster and made the audience laugh. Nicky also asked the audience to bring their flashlights while shouting 'Westlife Westlife Westlife'.

6. Will They Return in 2027?

As they approached the end, Westlife performed their new song Chariot. They also understood that many fans might not know or remember this song.

"But it's no problem. Later in 2027 we will return (and hope fans have memorized Chariot)," Shane said.

Shane seems to hint that they will return to Indonesia next year. Fans said they are ready to wait for Westlife's return.

7. Closed with the First Song

After about 2 hours of delivering an amazing performance, in the encore Westlife performed their debut song, Swear It Again. Fans also joined in singing enthusiastically.

Westlife bid farewell in such a classy manner. Hopefully, they really come back to Indonesia next year!
