Imperial Pictures and 786 Production are back with a new film titled ASSALAMUALAIKUM BEIJING 2: LOST IN NINGXIA. This film is adapted from a novel by Asma Nadia with the same title, starring Baskara Mahendra and Yasmin Napper as the main characters.

In this film, Yasmin plays Aisha, a character that she finds very emotional. "My character is unstable, when reading the script, she is not a bright person, and she is moody. This is a challenge for me on how to develop a character that is moody and unstable but still makes the audience empathize with her," Yasmin said in Kuningan City, South Jakarta, Tuesday (15/10/2024).
For Yasmin, acting in this film is a big challenge because of her complex and not easily understood character. "It's a challenge for me, I saw the script and I just did a big reading with others yesterday. Because I just finished shooting, I just dissected the script and I'm excited to shoot," she said.
Although she admits there is a bit of pressure remembering the success of the first Assalamualaikum Beijing, Yasmin remains optimistic and determined to give her best. "A little pressure but what's important is that I do my best, I just have to fight. After that, it's up to the Almighty," Yasmin said.
Yasmin is also not too worried about the expectations of the audience who have read the novel Assalamualaikum Beijing. For her, the audience's imagination is a natural thing.
“If the audience reads a wattpad novel and it gets made into a film, they will definitely have expectations. This character fits this, that character fits that. I don’t mind, because they are readers, they can freely imagine. So whatever they want,” Yasmin explained.
In addition to Yasmin Napper, this film also stars Baskara Mahendra, Ria Ricis, Emir Mahira, and several other artists. The audience is certainly looking forward to how the love story of the two main characters from different cultural backgrounds will develop on the big screen.
