Zul Zivilia's Wife Says the Royalties Received from Her Husband Are Very Helpful for the Family at Home

Even while serving an 18-year prison sentence for a drug case, Zul Zivilia continues to earn income from the music world. Zul's wife, Retno Paradinah, revealed that her husband still receives royalties every year from his previous works.

"Yes, the royalties come regularly every year, but the amount is not always the same. So it’s something that is awaited every year," said Retno when met in the Tendean area of Jakarta on Friday (9/5/2025).

According to Retno, the income from the royalties is quite helpful in meeting the needs of herself and the children. She mentioned that this income can support their living for a few months. "It can last from one month to three months," she said.

However, for her other needs, Retno still has to work. She chooses to remain independent by pursuing her profession in the beauty industry. "The rest, I do makeup," she said briefly.

The presence of a music studio is a form of entertainment for Zul. Retno believes that Zul's involvement in music activities is also a way for him to express himself and his spirit. "Yes, it's very entertaining," she said.

Not only as entertainment, that music activity also produces works. Retno mentioned that there are already several songs created and released by Zul while he was incarcerated at the Gunung Sindur Class 2A Narcotics Prison.

Retno admitted to feeling relieved to see her husband regain his passion for creating. She witnessed the lowest moments in Zul's life when he was first detained, including Zul's desire to stop making music.

"I’m really happy because previously, when Kak Zul first got into trouble, he was quite desperate, saying, ‘I don’t want to sing anymore.’ That’s why he wanted to sell his musical instruments because he really had no intention of making music again at the beginning," said Retno.
