Kapanlagi.com - The dangdut singer Inul Daratista revealed that this year she will not be going back to her hometown. She chose to stay in Jakarta because her schedule is quite packed during Ramadan.
"God willing, it seems like this Ramadan I won’t be going home," said Inul when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Monday (10/3/2025).
Although she cannot go back to her hometown, her husband, Adam Suseno, will still go home to represent her at the annual sharing event in their hometown.
"But, Mas Adam might go home the day after tomorrow, in a few days, to represent me, as usual," said Inul.
In her hometown, Inul's family still practices the tradition of sharing with the surrounding community, including rickshaw drivers and orphans.
"Because in that hometown, there is still a sharing ritual, every year, there are rickshaw drivers, there are orphans, basically everyone is already organized like that," she said.
Since she cannot be present in person, Inul ensures that all preparations for the Holiday Allowance (THR) have been well taken care of before her husband departs.
"Everything is ready, it has all been prepared, because I’m not going home, so he will be the one to finish it," she said.
The decision not to go home is also influenced by her family's situation. Most of her siblings now live abroad and cannot return to celebrate Eid.
"Because, if I go home tomorrow, coincidentally all my siblings are not there, because all my younger siblings have gone to America with their husbands, they couldn't wait for Eid," she said.
Not only abroad, but some of her family members have also settled in various other regions in Indonesia. This makes Inul feel uncomfortable if she has to go home alone.
"And my brother has also gone to Kalimantan, so it's just me and my mother, I feel sorry if I have to bother like that," she explained.
Even though this year she cannot gather with her extended family, Inul hopes that next year all her siblings can return to Indonesia so they can celebrate Eid together.
"Hopefully next year, if my siblings from America, and those from Kalimantan can all gather, then we can hold an event again," she concluded.
