Senior dangdut singer Yunita Ababiel passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 61. Her son, Nabiel Malik, revealed that his mother had been battling breast cancer for the past two years. During her treatment, Yunita underwent various medical procedures. Nabiel mentioned that his mother even went through chemotherapy and surgery.
"Mom has been suffering from breast cancer for the last two years," said Nabiel to reporters on Monday (14/7/2025).
He stated that although several procedures have been undergone, the treatment is not yet complete. Nabiel realizes that his mother has not fully completed the necessary treatments.
"She has undergone chemotherapy and surgery for removal, but indeed the treatment is not finished yet," Nabiel said again. Nabiel also shared the chronology of when his mother took her last breath.
"So yesterday mom complained about her shortness of breath, she initially didn't want to go to the emergency room, but after being persuaded and her breathing was heard making a sound, she finally agreed to go to the hospital," Nabiel revealed.
"Mom was taken to the Polri Hospital, but when we got there the emergency room was full and there were no empty beds," he said. Because of that, the family finally decided to take Yunita to Hermina Hospital in Depok, but an unexpected situation occurred during the journey.
"At that time, mom was thought to be sleeping with my brother, and she was eventually taken to Hermina Hospital in Depok. When we got there, my brother was just about to wake her up, but when he touched her body, it was already cold and somewhat stiff," said Nabiel.
Nabiel suspects that his mother was no longer alive during the journey to the hospital. He admitted that the incident happened so quickly. "So there is a possibility that mom didn't have time during the journey," he concluded.
