Singer Irenne Ghea Clarifies After Referring to Construction Workers as 'Embarrassing', Actually Wants to Defend Them

It turns out that Irenne's meaning of 'embarrassing' was just a joke, where the real meaning is to hammer or hit nails with a hammer. 'Malu' is an informal verb for hammering.

However, netizens immediately attacked her Instagram account because they disagreed with what she said. Some of them were men who actually work as construction workers and wives of construction workers. When contacted by KapanLagi.com, Irenne admitted that she had no intention of belittling the profession of construction workers. The 24-year-old dangdut singer claimed that she was actually defending the construction workers who complained that their profession was being denigrated by certain teachers at school.

"I posted this with the intention of defending the construction worker. But I added the phrase 'it is true that being a construction worker is embarrassing'. What I meant by embarrassing was like being embarrassed by a nail in the wall. It doesn't mean humiliating or making fun of them," said Irene Ghea.

Irenne admitted that the uproar was caused by netizens who didn't understand what she really meant. She had no intention of being arrogant or insulting the construction workers.

"It's just a misunderstanding. Maybe netizens didn't understand it well, actually this doesn't need to be clarified but it became news everywhere," said the dangdut singer who often performs with the Monata orchestra.
