Kapanlagi.com - A 23-year-old influencer from Mexico, Valeria Marquez, was shot dead by an unknown man while live streaming on TikTok from her beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. Quoted from CNN International, Wednesday (14/5/2025), the influencer was seen opening a package containing a doll.
As Valeria opened the package containing a small pig doll, she was seen smiling and tossing her blonde hair in front of the live streaming camera. Without any warning, Valeria Marquez was shot in several parts of her body.
Valeria Marquez was killed on the spot, blood visible pooling on the table in front of her, and the live broadcast ended as someone took her phone.
Authorities are still continuing their investigation. This case is suspected to be a femicide, which is the killing of a woman based on gender motives, considering the high rate of gender-based violence in Mexico.
The motive for the shooting has not been confirmed, and police are still pursuing the perpetrator who fled the scene after the incident. Valeria Marquez was known as a beauty influencer with tens of thousands of followers on TikTok and Instagram.
She was active in sharing content about beauty and lifestyle. This case adds to the long list of violence against women in Mexico that has garnered national and international attention.
