Demi Lovato Admits to Being Raped While Almost Dying from Overdose

Lovato shared her story through a docuseries titled Dancing with the Devil which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on Tuesday (16/3). The singer of Heart Attack candidly revealed that she experienced sexual abuse from the person who sold drugs to her.

"What people didn't realize about that night is that I didn't just overdose. I was also taken advantage of," she revealed, as reported by E! News.

1. Found in a Naked Condition

At that time, Lovato was found unconscious and dying in his residence. Not only that, this Camp Rock series player was also found in a naked condition.

"When they found me, I was naked. My body was blue, I was really treated like a corpse after he used me," she continued.

2. Admitting to Being Raped

When she regained consciousness in the hospital, Lovato was asked if she had engaged in sexual intercourse before losing consciousness. She admitted, but not because it was consensual.

"Then when I woke up in the hospital, they asked if I had consensual sex. Then I remembered a moment when he was pinning me down. So I said yes (to the doctor)," she explained again.

3. Trauma That Cannot Easily Disappear

Afterwards, Demi Lovato underwent intensive treatment and rehab to heal her condition. However, it cannot be denied that the trauma she experienced at that time cannot simply disappear.

"Trauma like that won't just vanish overnight and won't disappear in the early months of rehab," she concluded.
