Effects of Heroin Overdose, Demi Lovato Experienced 3 Strokes and Blindness

At that time, Demi Lovato was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital and received intensive care due to her critical condition.

Many may think that the effects of Demi Lovato's overdose only stopped there. However, the 28-year-old woman experienced other terrifying after-effects. She revealed this in her latest docuseries titled Dancing With the Devil.

"People don't realize how bad the side effects of my overdose were. I experienced 3 strokes, heart attacks, and brain damage," Demi Lovato said as quoted by E! News.

1. Experiencing Blindness

"I can no longer drive because there is a blind spot in my vision, so sometimes when I pour water into a glass, I often miss because I really can't see at all. I also have pneumonia because I have difficulty breathing," she added.

2. Most Difficult Side Effects to Accept

However, the side effect that most devastated Demi Lovato was the blindness she experienced. It was heartbreaking for her because she couldn't see her beloved younger sister, Madison De La Garza.

"I was blind, and when I woke up, my sister was beside my bed but I couldn't recognize who she was. She cried because she thought I would never be able to see again," Demi Lovato recalled.

3. Reasons for 'Recovery'

As it is known, before experiencing the overdose, Demi Lovato had declared herself to be recovered from drugs and alcohol. One of her biggest motivations for 'recovery' at that time was because her parents threatened her that she couldn't see her younger sister. And after the overdose, it turned out that it really happened, she couldn't see her sister.

"It feels truly ironic, but strangely poetic because it ended like that and I can't see my sister. I think sometimes God has a slightly twisted sense of humor," she concluded.
