Synopsis of 'BORDERLANDS', RPG Game Adaptation Film Starring Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett

The live-action film BORDERLANDS produced by Lionsgate will be released this year. Adapted from a popular game, this film tells the story of Lilith who reluctantly returns to Pandora to search for the daughter of a powerful man named Atlas, she meets some strange people along her journey.

This film was first announced in 2015, nine years later BORDERLANDS is scheduled to be released on August 9, 2024. The filming of this film was completed in 2021 and has been screened privately at CinemaCon 2022. Tim Miller, the director of the film DEADPOOL, took over reshoots in 2023, while busy with his horror film, THANKSGIVING.

The first trailer introduces us to Lilith (Cate Blanchett) who reluctantly returns to her home planet and embarks on a dangerous mission to steal treasure from a secret vault, along with her strange friends she encounters like Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Claptrap (Jack Black), Krieg (Florian Munteanu), and Roland (Kevin Hart).

Lilith, a notorious criminal with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet Pandora to find the daughter of the strongest man in the universe, Atlas. Lilith forms an alliance with a strange team, Roland, a former mercenary in need of redemption. Tiny Tina, a wild demolitions expert. Krieg, Tina's muscular protector, and Claptrap, a very intelligent robot.

This group must fight dangerous monsters and bandits to find and protect a missing girl to unlock the key to power. They must work together to help each other obtain it.

2. Called the Opening Film, Will There Be a Sequel to Come?

In an interview, Gearbox founder and CEO Randy Pitchford told viewers to welcome the BCU (Borderland Cinematic Universe), as this film is intended to be the first film of many others.

"One cool thing about this film is that we have created a cinematic world that combines the game world. Of course, the characters and the story are authentic. But this is an independent storyline from BORDERLANDS 2. The film BORDERLANDS is the first of the Borderlands Cinematic Universe. You will also see some slightly different parts from the video game," he said.
