Tom Cruise received the Guinness World Records award for the category "Most Burning Parachute Jumps by an Individual". Tom Cruise won the title thanks to a dangerous scene where he jumped from a helicopter at a minimum height of 7,500 feet.

While doing this, Tom Cruise wore a parachute that had been soaked in fuel and set on fire before jumping. After floating for a few seconds while burning, he cut the main parachute and immediately deployed the reserve parachute to land safely.

Several jumps were made carrying a 50-pound Snorri camera mounted on his body to record the scene from a first-person perspective. A total of 16 jumps were made for perfection.

This scene was filmed in the Drakensberg mountains, South Africa. The parachute used can only withstand burning for 2.5 to 3 seconds before completely disintegrating. Therefore, the coordination between the helicopter pilot, camera crew, and action coordinator must be perfect. Timing is crucial, and even the smallest mistake can be fatal.

This record was officially announced by Guinness World Records on June 4, 2025. GWR editor-in-chief, Craig Glenday even made a statement full of praise for Tom Cruise.
