6 Portraits of the Gala Premiere 'GHOST ISLAND 2024', Real Tension Behind the Scenes of the Latest Horror Film Coming Soon

As the premiere of the film GHOST ISLAND 2024 approaches on October 10, 2024, the cast and crew share thrilling experiences during the shooting process in Tanjung Lesung. This remote location presents real challenges, making the filmmaking more than just a horror story.

In addition to the thrilling story, the extreme conditions behind the scenes add to the tension felt by the entire team. Ferry 'Pei' Irawan, the director of this film, explained that the difficult terrain and harsh natural conditions were among the biggest challenges during filming.

“We had to race against the sunlight and maintain color consistency to ensure the film's atmosphere was preserved,” Pei revealed at the Gala Premiere at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, some time ago.

He added that these challenges created a real horror atmosphere, not only in the film but also in daily life during production. Here are the details.

This film stars a lineup of talented actors such as Taskya Namya, Bukie B Mansyur, Samo Rafael, and others. Unlike the previous series, PULAU HANTU 2024 raises a deeper theme, namely issues of mental health and psychological and physical violence against children.

This theme becomes the center of the story, bringing horror to a new emotional level. Taskya Namya, who plays the main character, shares the challenges she faced during filming. "The terrain is very scary! We had to go through steep paths and unpredictable waves, which added to the tension,” she revealed.

The limited phone signal also made character research difficult, but it actually helped Taskya connect more deeply with her character. Bukie B Mansyur and Samo Rafael felt the same tension.

They acknowledge that the journey to the filming location is often more terrifying than the horror scenes they perform. “The atmosphere of the sea during filming is very tense, making the fear feel very real,” added Bukie.

Amrit Punjabi, co-producer of the film, emphasizes the importance of the mental health theme raised in this film. “We want GHOST ISLAND 2024 to be more than just a horror film. It has a strong message about how psychological and physical trauma can leave a lasting mark for a lifetime,” explained Amrit.

This film is scheduled to be released on World Mental Health Day, a moment that further strengthens the message about mental health awareness. With a strong theme and a challenging filming atmosphere, this film is expected to achieve success like its predecessor.
