Already Played in Various Film Festivals, 'ORPA' Will be Screened in Local Cinemas

Kapanlagi.com - Film from Papua, starring and produced by Papuan children titled 'ORPA', has released its latest poster and trailer. This Qun Films production is scheduled to be screened in Indonesian cinemas on September 7th. 'ORPA' film is directed and written by Theo Rumansara, and produced by Axel Putra, Dani Huda, Giovanni Rahmadeva, Cornelio Sunny, with executive producers Axel Putra and Ismail Basbeth.

"The interesting thing about this film is that it is the first feature film that tells the story of Papuan children and is directed by Papuan people," said Giovani Rahmadeva, recently.

Before being widely released in theaters, the film 'ORPA' has traveled to various film festivals around the world, including Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival, where it won the Best Performance Indonesian Screen Award, CinemaAsia festival in the Netherlands, Zabaikalsky International Film Festival in Russia, Balinale International Film Festival, where it received the AICEF Prize (For Cross Cultural Filmmaking), Teens International Film Festival World of Wonders, Kaliningrad (Russia), FICDEH International Film Festival For Human Rights (Colombia), and Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival (United States).

2. About the Film 'ORPA'

The film 'ORPA' tells the story of Orpa, a 16-year-old girl from Papua who is going to be married off by her father to a wealthy man from Jayapura. Unwilling to accept her fate as a housewife, she decides to run away to pursue her dream of studying in Wamena, where she wants to learn more about the medicinal effects of Papua plants.

On her journey, she crosses paths with Ryan (28), a aspiring musician from Jakarta, and agrees to take him to Wamena. During their journey, a strong friendship develops as they spend time together. However, their journey becomes difficult as they are chased by Orpa's father and villagers who accuse Ryan of escaping from a murder case.
