Anggun Opens Up About Her Acting Career Continuation, Is She Done with Movies?

After successfully debuting with the film Para Perasuk, many are curious whether Anggun C. Sasmi will continue her career in acting. In response to this, the world Diva stated that she is very open to all possibilities that may come in the future.

However, Anggun emphasized that she is not pursuing any specific targets in acting. For her, involvement in a film is about the suitability of the script and the new experiences she can gain as an artist.

"For me, it depends. So, for me, it's like matchmaking. It depends on the script, it depends on the role, it depends on who the director is. So I am very open to anyone, anything that will come," said Anggun C. Sasmi when met at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Tuesday (14/04/2026).

Currently, Anggun prioritizes inner experience and honesty in her work over merely considering career gains. Throughout her 30-year career in the music industry, she has always adhered to the principle of staying true to herself in every choice she makes.

She feels fortunate because so far her choices have always yielded good results. For her, trying to play as someone else in a film is one of the most interesting forms of artistic exploration to pursue."What I seek is experience. Right now, that’s what I want. So it’s not always about whether this is good for my career, that comes later. And it seems that from all the choices I have made so far, thank God everything has been fine. So it seems I have always upheld honesty in my art," said Anggun.

The fundamental difference that Anggun feels between making music and acting lies in the collective aspect. In music, she becomes the main focus, while in the film world, she feels like part of a shared mission to bring a story to life.

Anggun admits that she really enjoys her role as a "new student" in the film industry. She is not ashamed to acknowledge that at first, she was very confused when reading the script directed by Wregas Bhanuteja.

"Well, this is different. We are all working to manifest one story as best as we can. And we just follow along with what Regas wants, how he wants it to be. Although to be honest, I didn’t really understand much when reading the script, like what is this supposed to be?" she revealed.

Anggun also delivers a valuable message for anyone who wants to start something new not to be afraid of looking like they don’t know anything. For her, mistakes are a natural part of the learning process that is very normal for humans.

"Well, you know, when you learn to swim, you can't just swim right away, unless you become a fish. This is not that. So if you happen to swallow some pool water, it's totally normal. So yeah, don't be afraid, don't be scared," concluded Anggun.
