Film Debut Directly Breaks into Sundance, Anggun is Overjoyed

The international singer Anggun Cipta Sasmi has finally officially expanded her wings into the world of acting through the latest film by director Wregas Bhanuteja titled Para Perasuk. Interestingly, Anggun's debut film has immediately achieved remarkable success by being screened at the Sundance Film Festival 2025.

This debut moment is very emotional for the singer of the song Mimpi. Anggun admitted to being very enthusiastic because her hard work with the entire team has received appreciation on the stage of this prestigious film festival before it is finally screened in Indonesia.

"To be honest, this is my first film. It’s directly screened at Sundance. This really makes my heart bloom," said Anggun C. Sasmi when met at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Tuesday (14/04/2026).

Like we really have to be aware of how special this moment is. And we all realized, crying together," Anggun explained at length.

"And for me, it's really nice to see that this emotion reaches people, even though they don't speak the same language and their cultures are very different. But this is the strength of Regas's film (Regas Bhanuteja), the strength of the script that makes it so that anyone can relate to the film, to the story," she concluded.

Para Perasuk had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2025 and will be screened in Indonesian cinemas on April 23, 2026. The film stars Chicco Kurniawan as Pawit, Bryan Domani as Ananto, Anggun as Guru Asri, Maudy Ayunda as Laksmi, and Angga Yunanda as Bayu.
