Announcement of Falcon Pictures Script Hunt Winners, Can Shoot During Pandemic - Inviting Writers to Dive into the Industry!

Kapanlagi.com - In early September, the Kwikku writing site collaborated with the production house Falcon Pictures to hold the Script Hunt competition. They were looking for stories in the form of novels and scripts to be filmed by seven renowned directors, namely Anggy Umbara, Fajar Bustomi, Indra Kurniawan, Rako Prijanto, Herwin Novianto, Ifa Isfansyah, and Danial Rifki.

After three months of searching, seven selected stories were announced to be filmed by the seven directors. Anggy chose a story titled Balada Sepasang Kekasih Gila by Han Gagas, Fajar chose a story titled Jangan Ambil Surgaku by Ari Keling, and Indra chose a story titled Pelangi Tanpa Warna by Mahfriza Kifani.

Following that, Rako chose a story titled Catatan Harian Para Pembohong by Buaya Dayat, Herwin chose a story titled Kapan Pindah Rumah? by Annisa Diandari Putri, Ifa chose a story titled The Murderer by Revin Palung, and finally, Danial chose a story titled Kattok Mencari Dalang by Gusti Ayu Puspagathy.

1. Can Shoot During a Pandemic

In a press conference via Zoom on Monday (30/11/2020), the directors explained the reasons for choosing the seven stories out of thousands of scripts submitted. In addition to fresh stories, interesting characterization, and the relevance of the themes to the directors' personal lives, the possibility of shooting during a pandemic was also taken into consideration.

"(We chose them) because of the closeness of the stories to our taste, emotions, or knowledge. So we can provide more value about that. If we are distant from it, depicting the story would feel like a lie. If it's close, we will feel honest. That's the starting point," said Danial Rifki.

"After evaluating it emotionally, the main thing we think about is: can we shoot during a pandemic, can we execute it with a smaller crew? We calculate it more realistically," added the director of the film RENTANG KISAH.

2. Giving Writers Opportunities to Dive into the Industry

Considering that it has just been announced, the next process will still be discussed between Kwikku and Falcon Pictures regarding the budget and when shooting can start. Meanwhile, for the creative process of adapting the ride from the novel to the screenplay, Anggy Umbara intends to involve the author behind the scenes by working on the screenplay.

"Since this is still in the form of a novel, it needs to be reworked from the novel to the screenplay. Ideally, the author himself should work on it so that the vision he wants to convey can be better accommodated and not compromised by us. After that, we will visualize it to be more cinematic without intending to reduce the depth of what is being conveyed. Cinematically, I will provide a corridor, guidance on what should be executed well, because we work together," said Anggy Umbara.
