Appearing with a Beard and Long Beard, Rapper Iwa K Becomes a 'Terrorist'

Kapanlagi.com - Famous rapper Iwa K seems to have changed his appearance, especially on his face. Iwa intentionally grows out his beard and mustache.

There is a reason behind it, apparently what Iwa K did was for the needs of his role in the latest film titled 'Broken Wings' directed by Rudi Soedjarwo. This film is inspired by the true events of the assault on the Mako Brimob Kelapa Dua prison, Depok, which caused grief for Indonesia in 2018.

1. Getting a lot of understanding

When met at Plataran Dharmawangsa, South Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon (26/1), Iwa revealed that he played the role of a terrorism mastermind in the incident. He mentioned that he gained a lot of understanding about his role from books.

"From books, yes. I have never stopped myself from reading books like 'oh, this book is not really me, I don't want to buy it', I'm not like that. I have books that are intense at home. Because for me, I have to understand everything," said Iwa K.

2. Meet the Criminal

No joking around, besides from books, Iwa K admitted that he had met the criminals to deepen the role he would play in this film. He also shared how the process of delving into it went.

"I really met them directly and talked to them directly. That was also a valuable experience. So I know why they did it, what they believed in, and why they dared to do it so casually," he said.

3. Growing a Beard

"If it's from books, I do often collect books from the past, finally I open them again, some books that have torn pages, I read them again. About Jihad, the character Ali Imron, finally we met these three people and two of them were directly involved. It's really exciting, getting a new perspective on it, meaning their regrets and so on. Finally, I feel comfortable sharing too. There is a humanistic side in this film that finally becomes interesting to pursue," he continued.

In addition, Iwa K also mentioned that in order to support the role, he chose to grow his beard and mustache.

4. Comfortable

"Asking about various films, a few months later, I had a casting. From there I asked, 'do I need a real or fake beard?' Well, just a real one. So I grew it out, my beard is rarely seen. If you ask if it's for a film, well, initially it was for a film, but then I decided to keep it long, I'm comfortable with it," he concluded.
