Burdened Compared to WARKOP DKI, Comedians Are Different: The Difference is Far

Kapanlagi.com - Successful with the Podcast and YouTube Agak Laen, the comedians consisting of Bene Dion, Indra Jegel, Boris Bokir, and Oki Rengga are now trying their luck in the acting world by starring in the film titled AGAK LAEN.

Their success reminds the public of the Warkop DKI group that started from radio broadcasts and then moved on to the big screen. However, when compared to the group consisting of Dono, Kasino, and Indro, they feel burdened.

“The difference is far, we are not Warkop, because if we are compared to Warkop, maybe it's because we are in a group. Because in terms of comedy or anything else, it's very different. Maybe the transition (from podcast to film) is the same, but it's impossible to compare with them,” said Oki Rengga when met at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta some time ago.

1. Just Lucky

Boris Bokir also conveyed a similar sentiment, stating that there are only a few similarities between WARKOP DKI and Agak Laen. Boris Bokir also mentioned that their success is simply due to luck, as they were acquainted with several production houses that enabled them to make a film.

"In terms of timeline similarity, it can be said that it is somewhat similar. They were on the radio while we are on Spotify, so there might be some similarities. But in terms of fame and comedy, Warkop was probably the most brilliant during their time. We have many brilliant comedians, but only a few are known by the public. We are just lucky," said Boris Bokir.

2. Inspired by WARKOP DKI

Instead of comparing, Bene Dion agrees that they are actually inspired by and idolize WARKOP DKI.

"But in terms of stand-up comedy, we are close to Pakde Indro, and we all really love Warkop. I personally wrote the script for Warkop DKI Reborn, as it is something we idolize. So we greatly admire them, and what we are doing is inspired by them. We don't want to compare, but rather follow in their footsteps," explained Bene Dion.

"If possible, we hope for the same fate and blessings as Warkop," added Boris Bokir.
