'DEALOVA 2' Created After 15 Years Since the First Film Release, Here's the Story Leak...

Kapanlagi.com - DEALOVA is a 2005 film adapted from the bestselling novel of the same title by Dyan Nuranindya. The teenage drama introduced new names at the time such as Jessica Iskandar, Ben Joshua, and Julie Estelle.

15 years have passed since its success in collecting 1.7 million viewers during its circulation, director Andibachtiar Yusuf became one of the producers of its sequel titled DEALOVA 2. Interestingly, he was offered the director position before it was eventually handed over to Ray Nayoan.

"So at that time, I met Mr. Heru Winanto, he is the one who owns the intellectual property of DEALOVA. He said, 'Let's make the sequel, you can direct it'. After rewatching it, I felt like it's not material for me. Coincidentally, I had a series project with Ray, so I offered it to him and he was enthusiastic as long as it focuses on basketball," said Andibachtiar Yusuf when met by KapanLagi.com during the filming of DEALOVA 2 in Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Sunday (9/13/2020).

1. Involving the Original Novel Writer

After securing Ray Nayoan as the director, Andibachtiar Yusuf contacted Dyan Nuranindya, the writer of the DeaLova novel. He immediately appointed Dyan to conceptualize the story and create the screenplay.

"Dyan wrote the screenplay, we used the pure story from Dyan. So when we first started working on it, the first person we invited was Dyan. We contacted Dyan to conceptualize the second story. At first, it was a bit difficult because he wrote it when he was still in junior high school, now he's 34 years old. But we tried to recollect his memories of high school. Because the story is a teenage story," added the director, who is familiarly called Ucup.

2. Using the Same Concept

The outline of the story in DEALOVA 2 is not much different from DEALOVA, where a girl who loves basketball is approached by two guys. However, this time it is experienced by the children of the characters in the first film.

"At that time, we didn't know whether the second film would be connected to the first one, or if we wanted to create something in its universe. Until finally, we came up with the story idea that we have now. The concept is about a woman falling in love, getting close to a guy her age and another guy much older than her. That's what all high school girls want, to be idolized by two guys. We kept the same concept as the first film, we connected it to the first film," said the 41-year-old director.

DEALOVA 2 has been in the filming process since August 29th and is estimated to be completed on September 23rd. This film stars Givina, Pradikta Wicaksono, Harris Vriza, Rizky Hanggono, Nola B3, and Uus.
