Revealed! Producer Manoj Punjabi Admits Being Hesitant to Make the Film 'PATIENCE IS A TEST' with the Time Looping Concept

Kapanlagi.com - MD Pictures production house released a new film starring Vino G Bastian and Luna Maya titled PATIENCE IS A TEST on the Disney+ Hotstar platform. This comedy drama by Anggy Umbara brings a new concept, namely time loop, which is already common in Hollywood.

To the media, Manoj Punjabi as the producer admitted that he was initially hesitant when Anggy came up with this concept. It took months before he finally agreed to have it written into a screenplay and start the production process.

"I wasn't confident because this is a film with a time loop concept, I was afraid that our audience would feel unfamiliar, not local. I really don't like it when something we try becomes unfamiliar, not in line with our culture. It took five months before I agreed, and the scriptwriting process was quite long. Because I didn't want the result to be ridiculous," said Manoj when met at the MD Pictures office in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Friday (9/4/2020).

Anggy Umbara is grateful that Manoj Punjabi is willing to produce a type of film that not many people are willing to finance. He made SABAR INI UJIAN as a dedication to the film industry to dare to challenge themselves and make innovations.

This is my dedication to the Indonesian film industry so that it can be bigger, more explorative, and braver in playing genres and concepts. Anggy Umbara revealed why he brought the concept of a time loop film because as an artist, he hadn't seen anyone make it yet. Luckily, although he was hesitant, Manoj Punjabi agreed to produce it.

"Outside of many time loop films, why don't we have one? That's what bothers me. Because in Indonesia, there are still many forms of film that we haven't explored, so I dedicate this," said Anggy.

SABAR INI UJIAN tells the story of Sabar (played by Vino G Bastian) who reluctantly has to attend his ex-fiancée's wedding. The next day and the day after that, he wakes up in a situation where he has to go to the wedding. What actually happened?
