Because of the Pandemic, Her New Film is Released on Streaming Services, Luna Maya: We Have to Move On

Kapanlagi.com - The Disney+ Hotstar streaming service is ready to operate in Indonesia starting from September 5, 2020. One of the shows that will premiere on that date is SABAR INI UJIAN starring Vino G Bastian, Luna Maya, Estelle Linden and Anya Geraldine.

As known, this comedy drama with a timeloop concept was initially made for theatrical release. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic and various considerations, Manoj Punjabi, the producer and CEO of MD Pictures, chose to distribute it through video streaming platforms.

"If we wait for this to be released in theaters, all the films will pile up. It won't be strategic and it will cause congestion, and the films won't be exposed because many films have to be completed (their screenings). I don't want that. It's sad because our product is good. Disney+ Hotstar has been very helpful," said Manoj during a press conference on Monday (8/24/2020).

1. Choosing to Move On

Luna Maya, as one of the actors, expressed her regret that the work, which should have been released in theaters, ended up only being available through streaming services. However, she later saw the positive side that this is one way to move the industry forward.

"Actually, it's sad that theaters still can't be opened, while as an actor and film lover, I really like going to the cinema. But anyway, the show must go on. We have to move on, continue what we do, and luckily there's a platform that can be considered as a breakthrough. Even though it's in a different atmosphere, the essence remains the same: watching new films, Indonesian films," Luna said in the same place.

2. Untouched by Theaters

Although it can only be watched on a small screen, through platforms like Disney+ Hotstar, it is hoped that the film SABAR INI UJIAN can be watched by more people. Especially those who live in areas where theaters are not accessible.

"If there are many areas without theaters, as long as there is internet, they can subscribe for the price of one ticket but watch many films. With this, hopefully, we can continue to create. Let's just pray that theaters will open soon. Because the experience of watching in theaters is different. But in this situation, this is the best," Luna concluded.
