Interested in Playing a Psychopathic Character, Chelsea Islan Inspired by Joaquin Phoenix in the Movie 'JOKER'

The 24-year-old woman reasoned that she wants to play a psychopathic character in her future film because she is inspired by Hollywood movies that she often watches, and she believes that doing so is not an easy task.

"Why do I want to play a psychopathic character? It's because I often watch foreign films. In Hollywood, the actors are cool, like the latest one, Joaquin Phoenix, who just won the best actor award. It's challenging for me, because if we play as ordinary humans, it will be ordinary. That's why in every film, I want to be someone who can't be in my daily life. Truly becoming someone else," said Chelsea Islan.

The woman born in Washington D.C., America, on June 2, 1995, admitted that until now, unfortunately, there have been no offers to play a film with a psychopathic character as she desires. According to her, there hasn't been any Indonesian film that tells a story like that.

"There haven't been any offers to play a psychopathic character, it seems that in Indonesia, that kind of character hasn't been too exposed, even though if you look at foreign films, they're really good," she said.

2. Inspired by Joaquin Phoenix

In addition, Chelsea Islan said that among several psychopathic films she has watched, she prefers the film Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix. Because for her, seeing Joaquin Phoenix's acting that blends all emotions is something that can be considered impossible for most actors.

"The one I like the most is still Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix, because his psychopathy is more internal. I think his acting is really difficult and fitting. I think it's really hard to imagine having to laugh, feel pain, and get angry," she concluded.
