Leony Revives Cici the Chatty Ghost in Ghosthing, Admits It's Hot Wearing a Cheongsam

Kapanlagi.com - Leony Vitria returns to the big screen with a horror comedy film titled Ghosthing. In this project, Leony takes on the role of Cinhat, a chatty Chinese ghost who is loyal to her friends.

"I play Cinhat here. Her character is a chatty girl, but she is actually very loyal and caring towards her friends in the gang," Leony said when met in the Dharmawangsa area of South Jakarta on Sunday (30/8/2026).

She explained that the character Cinhat is portrayed as the most vocal and dominant in the friendship circle of the Ghost gang, which is the center of the story. This position makes Cinhat talk a lot, but her motives always return to her love for her closest friends.

"My character is depicted as the 'cici' among the members of the Ghost gang. So she is indeed the most vocal, dominant, and chatty. But at the core, she loves her friends," she said.

1. Leony: Comedy Without Forcing Jokes

Although Ghosthing carries comedy, Leony does not push her character to intentionally be funny. She mentions that there is a collective agreement among the cast to play seriously according to their respective roles.

"So here's the thing, even though this is a comedy, we actors agree not to try to be 'funny'. We still play seriously according to our characters," she said.

Leony states that she remains true to her character Cinhat as a brave and talkative figure. According to her, humor flows from the interactions between different characters, not from an effort to force comedic gimmicks.

"I still stick to the character of Cinhat who is brave and chatty. The humor actually comes from the ensemble cast's interactions, which have different characters but are solid. We treat this as serious acting, not intentionally trying to be funny," she said.

2. Physical Challenges at the Cemetery Location

In addition to embodying the character, Leony faced physical challenges during the shooting process. The cheongsam costume worn in outdoor scenes made her feel hot, especially when the filming took place in a cemetery during the day.

"Wow, it's really stuffy! Especially since there are scenes that require a lot of movement, there's fighting, and even using a sling. It felt really suffocating. Just imagine, shooting at noon, under the scorching sun, and the location is in the middle of a graveyard," she revealed.

She described the sequence of scenes that demanded a lot of movement, including fighting and the use of a sling, making her breath feel short in the hot weather. The combination of heat, physical activity, and the closed costume made it the most challenging experience during the shooting of Ghosthing.

3. Every 'Cut!', Cheongsam is Removed

As soon as the director called for a cut, Leony admitted she would immediately loosen her costume to cool down. The cheongsam that covered up to her neck made her seek moments to catch her breath in between shooting breaks.

"I really, every time the director says 'Cut!', I immediately unzip my dress, taking it off until I'm just in my tank top because it's so hot. Because the cheongsam is completely covered from the neck, it’s incredibly hot," she concluded.

In Ghosthing, Leony acts alongside Baskara Mahendra, Yasamin Jasem, Tanta Ginting, Siti Fauziah, Tigor, Chika Waode, and Reinold. This horror-comedy film is scheduled to be released in Indonesian theaters starting October 30, 2026.
