Acha Septriasa plays Anggie, a graduate student pursuing her master's degree in Australia. Anggie experiences a downfall and seeks to regain her faith.
"In the film Tears of a Convert, I play Anggie. She is a young woman pursuing her master's degree in Australia and experiencing a toxic relationship, which leads her to a downfall, prompting her to seek her faith again," said Acha.
Meanwhile, Megan plays Ustaz Reza. A young religious figure who embraces many people. Megan created this character to convey a message to many.
"I play Ustaz Reza. The character of Ustaz Reza is a young cleric that I created to be more approachable, and I hope many people will like him. I hope people will want to listen. During the shooting, I tried to make each letter easy for people to understand," said Megan.
Megan mentioned that 'Tears of a Convert' can teach lessons about acceptance towards family members who have different choices, different opinions, and different views.
"With this film, for me, the lesson is about family, like that. How when parents or family accept when their child is different, whether it's different choices or anything else, but we only take one example from the side of different religions," Megan continued.
The religious issues raised in this film also made Acha interested in getting involved in 'TEARS OF A CONVERT'.
"When I read the scenario, what actually intrigued me was the discussion at the dining table among family about the child returning from the country where he lived, went to school, but came back with extraordinary news for his family. It was about converting to a different religion," replied Acha.
This film is not the first for Luna Maya and Maxime, so Maxime is already familiar with Luna's way of working. Maxime also mentioned that he has long looked forward to working with Anggy Umbara.
