Muzzaki Ramdhan Becomes Addicted to Acting in Short Films After Playing an Emo Kid

Kapanlagi.com - Young actor Muzzaki Ramdhan expressed his excitement after starring in the short film LITTLE REBELS CINEMA CLUB. In this film directed by Khozy Rizal, he faced the challenge of playing the character Anji, a heartbroken emo teenager.

"I got a very unique role, as an emo kid who just broke up and often gets angry," said Muzzaki Ramdhan after the gala premiere at CGV Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (1/8/2025).

For Muzzaki, portraying Anji was a fun new experience. He admitted that the character is very different from his real-life personality.

"This is outside of my character, but it's really fun to play it," he said.

However, Muzzaki found one similarity between himself and the character Anji that he portrayed. Anji is depicted as a young man who loves using a handycam, something that also caught Muzzaki's interest.

"It's just that we both have a camera. After acting in this short film, I became interested in exploring handycam," he added.

1. Really Enjoying

The film LITTLE REBELS CINEMA CLUB tells the story of Doddy, a 14-year-old boy who borrows his older sister Anji's handycam to make a zombie movie with his friends. Set in 2008, this film brings nostalgia for a generation familiar with pop culture and handycams of that time.

Muzzaki admitted that he really enjoyed the process of making this short film. In fact, the brief shooting experience made him feel more connected to the world of short films.

"I really liked the process, from reading to shooting which only took one day, but it was very deep," said Muzzaki.

This film was actually produced last year, but Muzzaki's enthusiasm for short films has not faded. He even expressed a desire to get involved in the production of other short films.

"We shot this last year, and I want to act in a short movie again," he revealed.

2. Full of Challenges

LITTLE REBELS CINEMA CLUB is one of three short films produced through the Secinta Itu Sama Sinema (SISS) program by MAXStream Studios. This program selected three films from 442 submitted proposals to be produced and screened at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) 2024.

The other two short films are Film Wajib Tonton Sebelum Mati by Razny Mahardhika, which tells the story of Kino's struggle to cope with loss after making a final recording for YouTube with his wife and best friend, and Final Draft by Hannan Chintya, which depicts the dilemma of a film editor who must remove an important actor at the request of an investor.

Through the experience of starring in LITTLE REBELS CINEMA CLUB, Muzzaki is increasingly convinced that short films are an interesting and challenging medium. He hopes to continue exploring his acting career, especially in other short film projects.
