Nicholas Saputra Relies on Instinct When Finding El Putra Sarira as 'Rangga'

"We are indeed looking for something quite specific, which is singing ability that will be very important in the film RANGGA & CINTA," said Nicholas Saputra.

The audition process was strict until Nicholas finally received the casting video from El Putra Sarira. That moment immediately made him confident that El was the right person to play Rangga. 

"So as soon as we received El's video, if I'm not mistaken, at that time he was asked to send a video, he sang and spoke to the camera," Nicholas revealed.

Nicholas's sense of confidence came naturally, even more so because of a gut feeling. "I felt like I got, what should I say, maybe mostly instinct, that this person has an honesty in their demeanor, in speaking, and their voice is also very good. That is the main asset we are looking for," he added.

Although El Putra has never dived into the film world, Nicholas emphasizes that this is not a significant obstacle. He believes that under the direction of Riri Riza, El's abilities will develop well.

"Even though El has never acted in a film before, I believe because he will be directed by Mas Riri. Mas Riri is very experienced in directing even non-actors, and I was often directed by Mas Riri in the early days of my career," Nicholas said.

"It will definitely produce something very good," he continued optimistically. Nicholas's confidence is also supported by his long experience working with Riri Riza and producer Mira Lesmana, who is known for often discovering new talents.
