Often Associated with Netizens, Asma Nadia Affirms that the Film Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah is Not an Adaptation of Her Novel

Kapanlagi.com - Writer Asma Nadia stated that many netizens associate the film Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah. Asma emphasized that the film, starring Titi Kamal, is not an adaptation of her novel titled Cinta di Ujung Sajadah.

"I affirm that the film production team of Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah never contacted me or invited me to collaborate in any form," said Asma when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, on Monday (16/10/2023).

People associate it because after the film was released in theaters, many fans and news reports link Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah with Cinta di Ujung Sajadah. Not wanting the news to spread everywhere, Asma spoke up.

"Therefore, I feel the need to clarify what actually happened. I have never been notified or contacted regarding the use of a film title that is very similar to the title of my work," Asma said.

Asma noticed that the film Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah is similar to her written work. Of course, this is very detrimental and has an impact on her novel, Cinta di Ujung Sajadah, which cannot be adapted into a film.

"I personally feel very disadvantaged by this incident. Because the novel Cinta di Ujung Sajadah, which was previously highly sought after by various producers, will become difficult to film considering there is already a film with a very similar title," said Asma.

Asma had previously warned the producer of the film Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah, Ronny Irawan, not to use a title that is similar to her novel. Unfortunately, Ronny considered that the film he was working on did not violate any rules because it was discovered from one of the scenes in the film.

"In that conversation, the parties involved stated that the title was spontaneously obtained when they saw one of the scenes, indicating that the related title emerged later after the film was produced," concluded Asma.
