Rieta Amilia Acts as Executive Producer, Here's the Reason Why 'Kepompong' Soap Opera is Made into a Movie

Kapanlagi.com - In 2008, the soap opera titled Kepompong became a huge hit and propelled the names of its young cast members. Among them were Derby Romero, Mikha Tambayong, Aryani Fitriana, Dinda Kirana, Adipati Dolken, and Tania Putri.

Fast forward 12 years, Sentot Sahid as the producer and Rieta Amilia as the executive producer decided to make a film version titled PERSAHABATAN BAGAI KEPOMPONG. It turns out there is a special reason why Sentot, who also serves as the director, wanted to bring back the popularity of the soap opera.

"In recent years, there have been few TV shows or movies that focus on pure teenage entertainment, about the excitement of the teenage world and their problems. If there are any, they are often too mature and stereotype teenage pregnancy and so on. That's why I wanted to make a teenage film, for teenagers. Then I remembered that I once made the soap opera Kepompong. From there, I decided to create a feature film version with current issues. At that time, I still had the idea of releasing it in theaters," said Sentot during a press conference via Zoom on Thursday (25/2).

1. Red Thread of Soap Operas and Films

The film version of the soap opera Kepompong is titled FRIENDSHIP LIKE KEPOMPONG featuring young actors Bio One, Beby Tsabina, and Yasmin Napper. Although it seems unrelated to the soap opera at first glance, there is actually a red thread connecting them.

"We did indeed conceive it with new stars. How can we relate to the old ones? Finally, we created a teenage character in this film who watches the soap opera. They then adopt the characters from the soap opera. So this teenager relates to the soap opera from the past," leaked Sentot, who after 18 years finally returned to the director's chair.

2. Filled with the Same Behind-the-Scenes People

Although visually new, the film FRIENDSHIP LIKE KEPOMPONG is still being worked on by the same people as the soap opera. Mention Alim Sudio as the scriptwriter, Popo Fauza as the music arranger, and Sind3ntosca who provides the soundtrack.

"So all the conceptors are still the same as those who made the soap opera, we just try to formulate it with new actors," said Sentot Sahid.
