Shooting 'SUZZANNA: SANTET, SIN ON TOP OF SIN', Luna Maya Almost Drowned in the River

Horror experiences on the set of supernatural films are often unavoidable. However, for Luna Maya, the most frightening moment during the shooting of SUZZANNA: SANTET, SIN ON TOP OF SIN was not due to disturbances from supernatural beings, but rather an unpleasant incident. She admitted that she almost drowned while shooting a scene in the river.

This tense incident took place at a filming location in Pangandaran, West Java. For the sake of totality, Luna decided to perform a scene in the river with quite strong currents without a stunt double. This decision nearly had fatal consequences.

"There was no horror experience, right? I do have one, but it wasn't a ghost; I almost drowned," said Luna Maya while recounting her experience at a press conference in Senayan, Sunday (26/10/2025).

Luna explained that the river current became stronger than expected due to the rain that had fallen earlier. Combined with the heavy full costume when wet, she lost control and was swept away by the current, spinning underwater.

"I was wearing a full outfit, right? Not wearing something like a bikini. Then getting wet, it became heavy, right? I might have been in there for a few seconds spinning," she said.

That moment suddenly made the crew panic. Luna, who was tossed around underwater and nearly hit a rock, struggled hard to stay calm and not fight against the current.

"I remember if I get caught in a current going down, just don't panic, don't try to swim up. Just go with the flow, if there are rocks, just push through," he explained.

Thanks to her calmness and experience as a 'beach kid', Luna finally managed to escape from the whirlpool after being underwater for nearly 30 seconds.

"I was down there the whole time but couldn't get out. That was the most horrifying moment of my life," she concluded.
