Shooting the Film 'TIMUR', Aufa Assagaf Says the Cast is Like a New Family

The atmosphere of shooting the latest action film, TIMUR, is not only filled with thrilling scenes but also with extraordinary warmth and unity among the cast. Actor Aufa Assagaf revealed that the production process of this film felt like a reunion that gave birth to a new family.

According to Aufa, the chemistry among the cast was established very well even from the beginning. This made the heavy shooting process feel lighter and more enjoyable.

"We started shooting about a year ago, right? Even now, we are still like, still hanging out together," said Aufa Assagaf when met at Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta, Thursday (6/11/2025).

The actor who portrays the character Apollo explained that, because the creative process was very comfortable, the bond among the cast members became closer over time.

"Because it was comfortable, eventually we felt like we were finding a new family here," he continued.

He also feels very fortunate to be part of this debut production of Uwais Pictures. For him, the film TIMUR not only provides a new acting experience but also a solid new family.

"In this film, it's also a story about family, but in real life, we really feel like we are finding a new family again," he said.

In this film directed by Iko Uwais, Aufa plays the character Apollo, a young man portrayed as 'a good person caught in a bad environment'.

"He is like a good person who accidentally gets caught in a bad environment," he explained.

For Aufa, the character Apollo has many layers of emotion that are interesting to explore. He also feels very supported by Iko Uwais's directing method, which gives full freedom to the actors.

"Fortunately, Bang Iko took the time to really discuss each scene, even each dialogue, before we started shooting; we had everything prepared before filming," he concluded. The film TIMUR is scheduled to be released in cinemas across Indonesia starting December 18, 2025.
