In the village, Wening works as a driver for a traditional cart. Meanwhile, Nirmala attends school and often helps Uti Yah work at the house of a Japanese man named Tetsuya, who secretly has a significant influence on their lives.

Nirmala feels very at home in Tetsuya's house. The man often teaches her how to make origami, including a paper crane, which becomes a symbol of hope. This relationship brings a bit of happiness amidst family wounds.

One rainy afternoon, Wening panics as she goes to pick up her mother and Nirmala from Tetsuya's house. However, on the slippery steep road, the old motorcycle she is riding loses control and ends in a tragic accident.

Uti Yah and Nirmala's bodies were thrown to the riverbank. A massive search was conducted, but ten days later the SAR team stopped the effort and declared that Nirmala was dead.

Despite everyone giving up, Wening refused to believe it. Her conviction was strengthened by Tetsuya, who assured her that a mother's prayer could keep her child alive. From there, Wening's hope burned even brighter.

That hope was then tied through 1,000 paper cranes. Together with Tirta, a mystery podcaster who wanted to highlight her story, Wening tried to gather cranes to ignite prayers for Nirmala.

However, this journey was not peaceful. Wening began to be haunted by the spirit of Uti Yah who manifested herself. The supernatural disturbances troubled her soul, as if there was a dark secret she had been hiding all along.

Tirta's assistance slowly uncovers new layers of mystery. In his efforts to help Wening, he discovers a dark side of his mother's past that may be related to Nirmala's disappearance.
