There are netizens saying 'JUMBO' is not suitable for children, experts say it can actually train curiosity.

In the midst of children's enthusiasm to watch JUMBO at its release coinciding with the Eid holiday, a netizen commented that the film JUMBO is not suitable for children, citing that their child started asking about one of the imaginative scenes.

"In my opinion, it's not suitable, doc. My child started asking: can we communicate with the dead through the radio?" thus read the tweet from one of the netizens on platform X.

Responding to this, Jainal Ilmi, M.Psi, Psychologist, CHT from RSIA Galeri Candra expressed that parents should actually appreciate and nurture children's curiosity.

"We need to realize that childhood is a time when curiosity is relatively high, so this should be appreciated to keep children's curiosity trained," explained Jainal Ilmi, M.Psi, Psychologist, CHT.

The role of parents in child development is indeed very important. In addition to accompanying and supervising what children watch, parents are also responsible for providing explanations so that children gain new knowledge, such as distinguishing between imagination vs reality.

"Then explain the difference between imagination vs reality, children need to understand that what is on TV (what they watch) does not necessarily happen in the real world. Besides that, parents need to avoid frightening reactions towards children. Instead, provide explanations that contain educational value or new knowledge for the children," added Jainal Ilmi, M.Psi, Psychologist, CHT.
