Red Zone, produced by Screenplay Films, features talented actors from different generations such as Aghniny Haque, Andri Mashadi, Lukman Sardi, Devano Danendra, Maria Theodore, Ruth Marini, Ratna Riantiarno.

"Red Zone is a new leap in my creativity as a director and writer. Together with my colleague, Fajar Maritha Santosa, and friends from Penakawan, we are working on a story inspired by a true story about organized crime by a group of elites, which is then combined with an urban legend," explained Sidharta Tata.

"While I have experience working on films or series in the action and horror genres, I am now combining them into a more complex thriller with a more intense suspense with the appearance of 'living corpses'," he added.

2. Why Is It Called a Corpse and Not a Zombie?

Fajar Martha Santosa revealed that in the process of collaborating with the Creator & Story development team, they enjoyed imagining by incorporating elements that are contextually local.

"At that time, we imagined that the world had already known zombies. Long before Zona Merah was made. And don't get me wrong, it was advantageous. We didn't have to create another complication about zombies. Now, because we also wanted to have our own 'zombie', we chose a name that is widely recognized by the Indonesian people, which is MAYIT," explained Fajar.

"Now this relates to the treatment we did. Our corpse is local. Locally, you will meet a corpse that wears a sarong, doesn't wear shoes, wears a kebaya, is toothless, and so on. Our zombies also move with a sense of smell, making them more unique. They have special characteristics, including certain weaknesses. This is what weaves the story into something even more exciting," added Fajar.

So, the 'Mayit' in Zona Merah is not just an ordinary zombie. The emergence of these corpses is closely linked to the Ghost Cup, also known as the corpse flower, which is believed by certain communities to be the source of all calamities. How does this ghost cup become the beginning of disaster?
