Workshop with Funeral Directors for the Film, Director Hadrah Daeng Ratu Reveals Mystical Experiences

Kapanlagi.com - Success with SIJJIN which gathered a total of 1.9 million viewers during its circulation in cinemas last year, Hadrah Daeng Ratu is ready to release another horror film. The latest work under the Visual Media Studio production banner is titled PEMANDI JENAZAH.

To make the story more vivid, Hadrah invited the cast and crew to participate in a workshop with people who are actually funeral directors. These individuals have been in the profession for decades.

"The idea for this film came from the producer. Then I realized that there must be many stories about funeral directors, so I felt it was necessary to bring in real funeral directors for the workshop. And we were connected with funeral directors who have been doing it for forty years," said Hadrah during a press conference at Epicentrum XXI, Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (18/1/2024).

Mystical experiences occurred when Hadrah Daeng Ratu, Aghniny Haque, and Djenar Maesa Ayu attended a workshop with Bu Hikmah, who works as a corpse washer. Because after meeting Djenar and Aghiny, they immediately felt tired.

"During the workshop, Djenar complained, 'My body feels heavy, uncomfortable, and painful.' In the end, we talked about it, and Bu Hikmah apologized because she hadn't had a proper bath after washing the corpse. So she came to us with that energy, and the heavy burden shifted," said Hadrah.

Furthermore, Hadrah Daeng Ratu stated that the film CORPSE WASHER not only gives terror and fear to the audience, but also stirs emotions.

"This film is not only about scary horror, but also about deep loss. You will experience how to face loss and how a corpse washer can feel the energy from the deceased person," said Hadrah.
