After Successfully Portraying Characters in the Film 'SHOGUN', Hiroyuki Sanada to Anna Sawai Share Their New Project

SHOGUN became one of the Japanese dramas that received nearly perfect ratings with a 99% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes. Starring Hiroyuki Sanada as the tough Lord Toranaga and Anna Sawai as the enchanting Lady Mariko, their character performances were so strong that SHOGUN was hailed as the best miniseries of 2024.

Adapted from the popular 1975 novel of the same title by James Clavell, SHOGUN 2024 also features famous actors who have strong roles throughout the drama. Cosmo Jarvis and Takehiro Hira, who respectively portray Blackthorne and Lord Ishido.

1. Hiroyuki Sanada & Tadanobu Asano - MORTAL KOMBAT 2

Before appearing on screen together in SHOGUN as Lord Toranaga and the unfaithful Yabushige, Hiroyuki Sanada and Tadanobu Asano previously worked together in the 2021 film adaptation of MORTAL KOMBAT.

Reprising their roles as Scorpion and Lord Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada and Tadanobu Asano will once again act alongside Karl Urban and Damon Herriman.

2. Cosmo Jarvis - INSIDE, WARFARE & ALTO KNIGHTS

Jarvis has been confirmed to be involved in 3 new projects. In INSIDE, a thriller-criminal film directed by Charles Williams, Jarvis will play a prisoner. He portrays the character Mark Shepard, the most hated criminal in Australia, alongside Guy Pearce (Warren Muffett). The film is currently in post-production and does not yet have an official release date.

In another project, Jarvis will act alongside several other up-and-coming male actors. WARFARE, directed by Alex Garland, features Will Poulter (MIDSOMMAR, WE'RE THE MILLERS), Charles Melton (MAY DECEMBER), Finn Bennet (TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY), Joseph Quinn (STRANGER THINGS), and Noah Centineo (THE RECRUIT).

Expected to be released on March 21, 2025, the film ALTO KNIGHTS is based on the true story of Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two Italian-American individuals who were responsible for separate criminal families during the 1950s. Jarvis will portray Vincent Gigante, an American mafia boss known as The Chin. His co-star, Robert De Niro, will play the character Vito Genovese.

3. Anna Sawai - FAST & FURIOUS 11

With the rise of Anna Sawai's name and career in the film SHOGUN, her presence in the FAST & FURIOUS project, which is currently in turmoil, may be able to revive the name of the series. Sawai played Elle in F9: THE FAST SAGA, but did not reprise her role in FAST & FURIOUS 10.

Anna Sawai has not yet announced any upcoming projects, so it makes sense if she will return massively to the franchise FAST & FURIOUS 11 which will be released on April 4, 2025.

4. Takehiro Hira - RENTAL FAMILY, RUMOURS & THE AMATEUR

A series of highly anticipated new projects from Takehiro Hira. Expected to be released at the end of 2024, RUMOURS, a comedy film featuring Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, Charles Dance, and many more, tells the story of the leaders of 7 wealthy democratic countries who get lost in the forest while negotiating diplomatic crises. The group must find a way out of the problem, which undoubtedly results in many funny and satirical scenarios.

In the action-thriller genre, Hira will play a character known as the Professor in THE AMATEUR. This film tells the story of a CIA cryptographer named Charlie Heller, portrayed by Rami Malek, who blackmails members of his own agency to pursue a terrorist group that killed his wife.

The film RENTAL FAMILY, a comedy drama directed by Hikari (MAX TOKYO VICE, BEEF), is currently in production and there is no official trailer or release date yet.
