NBC decided to stop airing SUITS LA even before its debut season aired. The final episode of the first season will air on May 18 and will mark the end of this series.
This spin-off of the popular legal drama Suits failed to replicate the success of its predecessor, despite initially attracting attention when it was announced. Although it comes from the same universe, SUITS LA did not receive a similar response from viewers.
This series brings back several iconic characters such as Harvey Specter played by Gabriel Macht, Daniel Hardman played by David Costabile, and Louis Litt played by Rick Hoffman in some episodes. However, the main storyline revolves around a new character named Ted, a lawyer in the entertainment world played by Stephen Amell.
SUITS LA is the second spin-off project created by Aaron Korsh, this time set in Los Angeles. Korsh developed this series after witnessing the revival of the original series on streaming services in 2023.
The original SUITS series, which aired from 2011 to 2019, has gone viral again after being streamed on Netflix and became the most-watched series for a long time. According to Nielsen data, the series amassed nearly 58 billion viewing minutes and dominated the year 2023.
Unlike its predecessor, SUITS LA did not achieve similar popularity, and Netflix even chose not to air the spin-off. Most audiences still prefer to watch the original version over its latest series.
Not only SUITS LA, but NBC also ended several other shows such as LOPEZ VS. LOPEZ, NIGHT COURT, THE IRRATIONAL, and FOUND. This decision was made ahead of the network's presentation at Radio City Music Hall, in preparation for the return of NBA broadcasts this coming fall.
