Film '28 YEARS LATER' Recorded Using iPhone, Director Reveals the Reason

It turns out that the latest horror film currently showing titled 28 YEARS LATER was mostly produced using an iPhone! This was revealed by the director, Danny Boyle. The film's production team reportedly used various units of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

For information, the first film in this franchise titled 28 DAYS LATER in 2002 also used cameras that were appropriate for its time. This was done to provide an authentic and realistic feel to these films.

"The iPhone is lightweight, inexpensive, and allows us to go to very remote places," said Boyle, as reported by KapanLagi via Antara on Monday (23/06).

"I am very proud of what we did back then, and I want some of these things to bring back that element. But now, using low technology like we did before feels strange, when 4K is available on all our phones," he continued.

Boyle said that he and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle built a special device to hold several iPhones at once. He used the device to shoot the violent scenes.

"There is one amazing scene in the second half of the film where we used a 20-camera rig, and you will definitely know when you see it. The scene is quite graphic, but very beautiful visually and uses this technique in a surprising way, making you feel like you are entering a new world," he explained.
