Iko Uwais Stars in 'SNAKE EYES', First Time Shooting in Japan

Kapanlagi.com - The name Iko Uwais is no stranger in the Hollywood industry. He is officially joining the cast of GI JOE: SNAKE EYES. Audy Item's husband has apparently been expected to star in the film for a long time.

"Actually, the idea for this film has been around since 2018 when I had a meeting with one of the producers, Erik Howsam from Paramount Pictures," said Iko when contacted by KapanLagi.com via WhatsApp message on Friday (10/1/2020).

1. Without Casting

However, Iko was only contacted again and officially joined in 2019. "But in 2019, I was officially asked by Lorenzo Dibonaventura, one of the producers, to participate in this," said the 36-year-old man.

Iko admitted that he didn't need to participate in a casting to be involved in the film GI JOE: SNAKE EYES. He is also happy because this film provided him the experience of shooting in Japan for the first time.

"At that time, there was no casting or audition. Of course, I felt happy. And it was also challenging because it was my first time shooting in Japan and there were elements of Japanese culture," he said.

2. New Challenge

Although filming has not started yet, Iko already feels challenged by the role he plays. "The filming hasn't started yet. It will start on January 15th. But in terms of the role, it is quite challenging because I play as The Hard Master, the martial arts teacher of Snake Eyes," explained Iko.

Furthermore, another interesting challenge for Iko is the presence of Japanese martial arts elements in his action. "It's challenging because there will be a lot of Japanese martial arts elements in my role, and this is my first time working with such elements," he concluded.
