Kapanlagi.com - EXTRACTION is a kind of reunion for Chris Hemsworth, Joe Russo, and director Sam Hargrave. The three of them have worked together on a project before, namely AVENGERS: ENDGAME. At that time, Joe was in the director's chair while Sam was one of the stunt coordinators. It can be said that all three of them are not new to working on action-packed films.

However, in this Netflix production, both Chris and Sam admitted that they were challenged even more during the filming process. The challenge was to push their physical limits even further to produce stunning scenes. From several trailers and behind-the-scenes videos, EXTRACTION promises long action scenes.

In a telephone interview with KapanLagi last week, Chris and Sam shared their stories about the excitement of the filming process and pushing their physical limits.

1. A Director Who Doesn't Just Sit Still

Sam, who has been involved in the film industry as a stunt coordinator, has a unique approach in directing his debut film. He gets as close as possible to the cast members during action scenes. Yes, he gets so close that he sits on the hood of a moving car while holding the camera and continuously taking shots.

Although he is physically accustomed to performing action scenes, this is the first time Sam has to do it while carrying a camera. It becomes a significant challenge for him, especially when he has to capture a scene that lasts for 12 minutes.

"There's a 12-minute scene where I had to hold the camera while running up and down stairs, jumping from one vehicle to another, and entering through a window. I have trained myself to do all of that, I am prepared. However, it's a different story when I have to operate a large camera as well. That's what I find the most physically demanding," he explained.

2. Shooting Rolling in 40 Degrees Celsius Heat

The same thing is also felt by Chris Hemsworth. He, who is accustomed to performing stunts when playing Thor or Agent MIB, felt physically drained during the shooting of EXTRACTION. Most of the scenes in this film were shot using a single camera. So, when there is a mistake, whether we like it or not, we have to repeat the filming process.

"We use one camera to do continuous takes. There must be no mistakes so that the results are perfect. If we have successfully shot 99 percent but there is a mistake, we have to start over. The process is really intense and there is a little bit of anxiety as well. But at the end of the shooting, we can feel how relieving it is to do it all," he said.

In his role as Tyler Rake, Chris performs many scenes of running, fighting, shooting, and even jumping. He has to do all of that in a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. He and the crew filmed in India.

"I was pushed to act more here. Not to mention the temperature of 40 degrees Celsius there, while holding weapons, there are many explosions and burning objects. We run, we fight, and we roll," he concluded.

3. Synopsis EXTRACTION

EXTRACTION tells the journey of Tyler Rake, a fearless mercenary in the black market. One day, an imprisoned international crime lord hires Tyler to rescue his kidnapped son.
