'THE BATMAN' Will Be Different From Previous Films

This happened when Warner Bros launched the DC Extended Universe, the world of DC comic book superheroes to compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL by Zack Snyder became the beginning of the DCEU. Although it was successful in theaters, the film received various criticisms. However, Warner Bros continued the DCEU by launching BATMAN V SUPERMAN, WONDER WOMAN, and SUICIDE SQUAD. But after the failure of the film JUSTICE LEAGUE, Warner Bros started brainstorming to bring DC comic book characters to the big screen.

1. THE BATMAN Will Stand Alone

After failing to unite DC characters in a one-dimensional world in JUSTICE LEAGUE, Warner Bros tries to introduce the DC Multiverse. Through this strategy, THE BATMAN will have its own storyline and will not follow the DCEU. In this way, Warner Bros can create their own version of Batman. Although it will have its own world, Robert Pattinson's version of Batman will still take some stories and characters from the original comics, including Batman's archenemies.

The archenemies that will appear in THE BATMAN will also have their own versions of the story. The Penguin/Oscar Cobblepot in the film BATMAN RETURNS is portrayed as a low-class person funded by a successful businessman to become the Mayor of Gotham. Starring Danny DeVito, The Penguin's version is loved by many people. However, in THE BATMAN, The Penguin played by Colin Farrell will portray himself as a criminal boss. This version will show how to control Gotham City without having a position.

The Riddler will also appear in THE BATMAN after last appearing on the big screen through the film BATMAN FOREVER. The Riddler, previously played by Jim Carrey, seemed too cartoonish, full of tricks, and not scary. In the film version of THE BATMAN, The Riddler will make Batman have to think hard and sharpen his detective skills.

In addition, Catwoman and mafia boss Carmine Falcone will also appear with their own stories as enemies of this masked superhero.

2. Young Batman

In THE BATMAN, they will have their own world, and that is an added value. Through the trailer presented at DC FANDOME, Robert Pattinson will tell the story of Bruce Wayne's second year as Batman. No longer a beginner, but not yet an expert. THE BATMAN will focus on the corruption happening in Gotham. The director added that the deeper Batman uncovers the corruption in Gotham, the more he realizes his parents' contribution to the current state of Gotham's destruction.

Although the production process was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Robert Pattinson and the rest of the crew have resumed filming THE BATMAN. The latest news shows them in Liverpool, England. THE BATMAN is scheduled to be released on March 4, 2022.
