Accepting Military Call-Up Amidst Prostitution Scandal, Seungri Former Big Bang Will Face Military Trial?

Kapanlagi.com - The Military Manpower Administration (MMA) has sent a military call-up for Seungri, former member of Big Bang. This idol under YG Entertainment was already scheduled to undergo military service some time ago.

Quoting Soompi, on Tuesday (4/2/2020), Seungri requested a postponement of his military service last year. This was done so that the former Big Bang member could undergo an investigation into the bribery and illegal prostitution cases at his nightclub, Burning Sun.

1. Military Duty Assignment

In their official statement, MMA revealed that they have sent a fair notification to Seungri regarding his military duty assignment. This wamil assignment is adjusted based on the investigation results of his case.

"We have sent a notification letter regarding the military service duty that he must carry out after the investigation of his case is concluded," said MMA, as quoted from Soompi.

2. Transferred to Military Court

In the statement, MMA stated that they consider the possibility that the trial for this case will be quite complex and require a long time. Therefore, they will wait for the investigation of the case to be completed to determine the wamil assignment for Seungri. They will also transfer the case to the military court once Seungri begins his wamil.

"When Seungri starts his wamil, the jurisdiction over his trial will be transferred to the Military Court in accordance with the relevant laws," MMA further explained.

3. Prostitution and Bribery Case

Seungri himself is suspected of being involved in various scandals related to Burning Sun, a nightclub that he managed as executive director. He is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and illegal prostitution practices that occurred in the club.

The scandal was exposed to the public in early 2019. As a result of the scandal, Seungri decided to leave Big Bang and retire from the entertainment industry in South Korea.

Until now, he is still undergoing investigation for the case. It was recently revealed that he is also involved in tax evasion and bribery cases using prostitution services. He is also suspected of being a pimp in the prostitution case that occurred in the club.
