Choi Jong Hoon Admits to Participating in Spreading Illegally Taken Recordings

Kapanlagi.com - In the trial held on March 18, 2020, at the Seoul District Court, the prosecutor proposed a one-year and six-month sentence for the bribery case committed by Choi Jong Hoon. If found guilty of other charges, he will receive additional punishment, which includes being registered as a sexual violence offender, required to complete a sexual violence perpetrator reform program, and prohibited from working in institutions related to children and adolescents for five years.

Previously, Choi Jong Hoon was on the police record for offering 2 million won (around Rp 24.5 million) to officers at the scene to cover up the incident of drunk driving in 2016. He was also accused of spreading illegally taken recordings.

In response to the proposal, lawyer Choi Jong Hoon stated, "He denies the bribery accusation, but has admitted to other charges. The accusation is false and we intend to refute the bribery accusation."

"Please consider that the amount of money involved is actually very small. Even if a criminal act occurred, there was no admission of bribery (at that time)," added the lawyer.

The lawyer acknowledges that Choi Jong Hoon is guilty of the charge of illegally spreading recorded footage and requests the court to consider the fact that he did not show the faces of the victims in the video.

2. Choi Jong Hoon's Statement

Choi Jong Hoon stated, "I deeply regret the irresponsible actions I have taken and I accept the punishment imposed on me. If I return to society in the future, I will provide assistance to the community, not as a celebrity but as an ordinary human being."

As reported by Soompi, Choi Jong Hoon's punishment for the attempted bribery and illegal spreading of recorded footage will be announced in the afternoon of March 27, 2020.

Previously, Choi Jong Hoon and Jung Joon Young were sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of rape charges.
