Former Trainees Who Were Rejected by JYP Entertainment Are Now Successful K-Pop Idols

1. J-Hope BTS

Before achieving success with BTS, perhaps some fans didn't know that J-Hope auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2009. Despite having excellent dancing talent due to his street dance experience in Gwangju, J-Hope was unable to capture the attention of JYP Entertainment.

Fortunately, he didn't give up and continued auditioning until he officially became a trainee at Big Hit Entertainment in 2010. J-Hope officially debuted with BTS three years later and has since gained global popularity. He even became one of the Korean musicians who successfully debuted solo on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single 'Chicken Noodle Soup.'

2. Xiumin EXO

Xiumin from EXO had a similar experience. Before his debut, he auditioned for JYP Entertainment. Unfortunately, JYP Entertainment didn't see his potential when he auditioned in 2008.

However, Xiumin didn't lose heart. In fact, the following year, he was scouted by SM Entertainment after participating in the Everysing Contest, which was also organized by the agency.

3. DEAN

DEAN may now be known as one of the most famous solo artists in Korea. However, long before he achieved fame, he also experienced ups and downs in his career. Indeed, DEAN once auditioned for JYP Entertainment.

However, JYP Entertainment rejected him when he auditioned at the age of 17. But instead of burying his dreams, a year after his failed audition at JYP Entertainment, he was able to write songs for famous K-Pop idols like EXO and VIXX.

4. Yuju GFRIEND

Before the news of their disbandment, GFRIEND was considered one of the successful K-Pop idols in the Korean music industry. In fact, many acknowledged that all the members of GFRIEND were talented in terms of vocals and dance, including Yuju.

Her beautiful voice often captivated many eyes, but when she auditioned for Park Jin Young, the CEO of JYP Entertainment, he considered her singing and dancing abilities to be average. However, during a joint audition with YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk praised her.

However, because they did not see eye to eye, Yuju was ultimately eliminated. She officially became a trainee under Source Music and debuted with GFRIEND in 2015.

5. IU

Last but not least, there is IU who often tells the story of her audition being rejected by JYP Entertainment, which may have been heard many times. People might not even believe that IU was rejected by many agencies at that time.

Imagine, within a span of 2 years, IU has participated in 20 auditions, including at JYP Entertainment. However, none of those auditions accepted her.

Once again, her struggle is truly commendable. Because the early setback in her career did not stop her, and now she has become one of the most successful and beloved solo musicians in Korea, and even internationally.
