Kim Young Dae is officially known to have started his mandatory military service on April 20, 2026. He first underwent basic training at the Army training center before participating in the military band selection process at the end of June.

After passing the selection stages, Kim Young Dae was declared successful and was immediately assigned as a military band personnel.

"Kim Young-dae recently passed the army military band selection test. I'm currently serving in the Army's military band," said a representative from Outer Universe.

The military band is one of the special assignments within the South Korean Army. Personnel who join still undergo mandatory military service but have the primary duty of supporting various ceremonial activities and official military performances.

2. Serving in the Same Division as Doyoung NCT

Another point of interest for fans is Kim Young Dae's assignment location. He is now in the 12th Infantry Division, which is also where Doyoung NCT is serving his mandatory military service.

Doyoung entered service earlier in December 2025. Currently, the idol is serving as an assistant instructor at the 12th Infantry Division training center.

Although they are in the same division, Kim Young Dae and Doyoung have different roles. Kim Young Dae serves as a military band member, while Doyoung holds the position of assistant instructor.
