PERFECT CROWN is set in modern Korea, which still functions as a constitutional monarchy. The story follows Sung Hee-joo, the chaebol heir who has everything except noble status, and Prince Yi Ahn, the second son of the king who has a title but almost no freedom. For social ambition and political pressure, they become involved in a contract marriage that opens up family conflicts, palace intrigues, and of course, romance.

IU plays the role of Seong Hee-joo, the intelligent, ambitious, and competitive second daughter of the Castle Group.
